FDA COMMISSIONER ANNOUNCEMENT POSSIBLE BY END OF OCTOBER, Deputy Commissioner for Policy William Schultz predicted at a Food & Drug Law Institute meeting Sept. 3 in Washington, D.C. Asked to comment on the search for a new commissioner, Schultz responded: "Hopefully, there will be something announced relatively soon...before Congress goes out of session." The House and Senate both are expected to adjourn before Nov. 1. The Administration is not expected to present a nominee formally until after the FDA reform/Prescription Drug User Fee Act reauthorization bill is passed.
