FDA POLICY AND MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS WILL USE $7.8 MIL. IN USER FEES during fiscal 1997, according to the Senate Appropriations Committee report on the appropriations bill for FDA and related agencies adopted by a 26-0 vote July 11. The committee report for the first time breaks out the funding levels for FDA's offices of the commissioner, policy, external affairs, and management and systems as well as orphan product and other extramural grants and central services. The total cost of those activities in fiscal 1997 is budgeted at $113.8 mil., with $7.8 mil. paid for from prescription drug and mammography user fees, the report states.
