NICOTROL AND NICODERM PATCHES UNANIMOUSLY RECOMMENDED FOR OTC USE on April 19 by FDA's Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee and members of the agency's Drug Abuse Advisory Committee. The committee voted 9-0 that McNeil Consumer Products' Nicotrol and SmithKline Beecham's Nicoderm nicotine transdermal patches are safe and effective for over-the-counter use as smoking cessation aids.
