TENNCARE PHYSICIANS: 87% HAVE SOME SUCCESS WITH PRIOR AUTHORIZATION requests, according to a phone survey of 200 TennCare physicians conducted by Yankelovich Partners on behalf of the Tennessee Medical Association. According to the survey, 23% of physicians who have attempted to get prior authorization for a drug not on the Tennessee Medicaid managed care formulary said that their efforts resulted in the patient getting the drug, while another 64% said their prior authorization requests worked in some cases and not in others. Twelve percent reported that their requests were not successful.
