FDA campus consolidation revised budget of $810 mil. seeks reductions in design, engineering costs.

FDA CAMPUS: $80 MIL. GSA SCALE-BACK FOR CONSOLIDATION was greeted favorably by House Transportation & Infrastructure/ Public Buildings & Economic Development Subcommittee Chairman Rep. Gilchrest (R-Md.) at a March 6 hearing on the proposed budget for the agency's consolidated campus. "The original cost of the project was considerably larger than the current scope of this project," Gilchrest observed. The revised $810 mil. cost estimate is $80 mil. less than the agency's original projection of $890 mil. and half-a-billion dollars below initial 1990 estimates of $1.4 bil.
