VHA's "ABCs" OF DISTRIBUTION: AMERISOURCE, BERGEN BRUNSWIG, CARDINAL HEALTH have been selected by VHA as authorized distribution agents. Under the contracts announced Jan. 16, AmeriSource, Bergen and Cardinal will be ADAs for 850 of the association's 1,144 member hospitals that use VHA for pharmacy purchasing. Ninety percent of VHA (formerly known as Voluntary Hospitals of America) health care organizations already contract with AmeriSource, Bergen or Cardinal, VHA said. Irving, Tex.-based VHA previously had five preferred distributors; VHA's agreements with FoxMeyer and McKesson will expire in October.
