U.S. Drug Industry Competitiveness

International Trade Commission, at Senate Finance Committee's request, will hold hearing Jan. 17-18 to review the international competitiveness of three U.S. industries -- pharmaceuticals, semiconductors and communications technology. ITC expects to issue a final report on the three industries by July 1991. Pharmaceutical issues to be investigated may include import policies, cost containment, patent extensions and sources of European and Japanese competition.
