Drug wholesaler acquires a 10% equity position in the Dutch pharmaceutical, dental and veterinary wholesaler Medicopharma for $13 mil. along with an option to increase that position over the next two years. Investment will help Medicopharma finance recent acquisition of British pharmaceutical wholesaling business Macarthy plc. Earlier this year, Medicopharma also bought U.K.-based Butler Pharmaceuticals. Medicopharma also manufacturers and markets a line of related health care products in The Netherlands and the U.S. through Medicopharma Inc. and Pennex, which it acquired in 1988 ("The Pink Sheet" Jan. 4, 1988, T&G-8).
