FDA AIDS Coordination Staff
Executive Summary
Oversight of the staff has transferred from the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research to the Office of the Commissioner, effective Aug. 3. The AIDS Coordination Staff will report directly to Office of the Commissioner's Chief of Staff Joseph Levitt. FDA views the relocation as appropriate because AIDS staff activities affect all agency centers and offices. FDA also decided to make the change because of the retirement of CBER Director Paul Parkman, MD, who also served as FDA AIDS Coordinator. Randolph Wykoff, MD, who has been director of the unit since April 1989, will also assume the role of AIDS Coordinator.
