Manuel Navia, PhD, joins the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based drug design R&D firm as head of the company's protein x-ray crystallography group. He was most recently a senior research fellow at Merck Sharp & Dohme Research Labs and prior to that, was a senior staff fellow for the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at NIH. Navia was among the first researchers at Merck to map the active site of the HIV-1 protease molecule through x-ray crystallography.
