The company is underwriting an Arthritis Foundation educational campaign to make the public aware of measures available to prevent and treat NSAID-induced ulcers. In a March 30 satellite teleconference to launch the campaign, the foundation presented a panel of experts to discuss NSAID-induced ulcers, as well as a survey of 1,000 doctors' observations on the incidence of NSAID-induced ulcers. Searle has agreed to give over $ 1 mil. in support of the program for the first year. The program is expected to be multi-million dollar project to continue over the course of several years.
