Executive Summary
US company Newlife Technologies is to use technology licensed from BTG International to develop a wristwatch-like device that can noninvasively monitor vital signs in the human body, such as heart rate. The technology consists of an optical fibre sensor that can pick up physiological changes in the body through the strap, Steve Burton, Newlife's president told Clinica. The Midlothian, Virginia-based company will use the technology to enhance its FDA-approved heart rate monitoring product, the HEARTalker, which vocally feeds back ECG measurements from a strap worn around the chest to assist the user during personal training.
