Executive Summary
The UK Department of Health (DOH) has sold an 80% stake in its blood plasma distributor Plasma Resources UK Ltd. to private equity firm Bain Capital, which paid £90mm ($137mm) up front and pledged £110mm within the next five years. In January 2013, the DOH announced plans to sell its majority ownership, all part of a bigger initiative to divest assets with a combined turnover of £12.3bn ($19.8bn), according to industry sources.
