Radius raises $57.5mm in Series C round

Executive Summary
Radius Health (developing therapeutics for women's health, osteoporosis, and inflammation) has raised $29mm in the first closing of its Series C financing round (what the company calls its "second institutional financing"). It plans to bring in an additional $28.5mm in a second closing; at that point, Radius will have raised $81.5mm since its 2003 inception. Existing backer MPM Capital and new investor the Wellcome Trust co-led the first tranche, and were joined by HealthCare Ventures and Oxford Bioscience Partners (both existing investors) and additional newcomers BB Biotech and the Scottish Widows Investment Partnership.
