Nestle cosmeceutical: The Swiss firm's new Glowelle daily beauty drink/dietary supplement relies on a proprietary blend of antioxidant vitamins, phyto-nutrients, botanical and fruit extracts to fight signs of aging by "nourishing your skin from within," according to a Sept. 3 release. The supplement is offered in two flavors - Natural Raspberry Jasmine and Natural Pomegranate Lychee - and is available at Neiman Marcus stores nationwide and at Bergdorf Goodman in ready-to-drink bottles priced at $7 each, and in seven- and 30-day powder-pack kits for $40 and $112, respectively. Glowelle "works synergistically with current beauty regimens to enhance skin's appearance," Nestle says. "It's really exciting to bring a new product to women that addresses both beauty and wellness holistically," says Kimberly Cooper, chief beauty officer of Glowelle. While ingestible beauty has been popularly received in Asian markets and parts of Europe, Western consumers have been slower to get on board (1 (Also see "Ingestible Cosmeceuticals To Pick Up Speed In Three, Four Years, Exec Says" - Pink Sheet, 4 Aug, 2008.), p. 10).

RevGenetics' rare extract: The Miami-based company's latest product, Astral Fruit dietary supplements, contains 33 mg of natural Astragaloside IV, "one of the rarest herbal extracts in the world." RevGenetics says Sept. 9 that Astragaloside IV is known to activate the enzyme telomerase, which can help keep users' "chromosomes and DNA in a healthy state, repair some of the damage done by aging, and maybe increase the amount of times cells can normally divide." The company offers 30-count bottles of Astral Fruit for $29.99. "As the first product of its kind, we believe we are well ahead of the science curve to specifically help maintain people's current lifestyle for as long as possible," says RevGenetics founder Anthony Loera.

Glucosamine powder from Wellese: The health and wellness supplements manufacturer offers Joint Movement Glucosamine Powder Packets, a portable version of its liquid glucosamine supplement available in natural berry or citrus flavors. Each packet of Joint Movement powder contains 2,000 mg glucosamine, 1,200 mg chondroitin and 500mg MSM - methylsulfonylmethane, the Ferndale, Wash.-based company says Sept. 10. The packets are sold in packages of 10 for a suggested retail price of $11.99 and are available at retailers and online.

Weight-loss effervescence from Power-Trition: The nutritional supplement firm promotes its Trimfizz citrus-flavored, effervescent stick pack as "The Champagne of Weight Loss Systems." The Dayton, N.J.-based firm says Sept. 10 that one stick pack dissolved in 8 ounces of water 20 minutes before a meal helps contribute to necessary water intake while the effervescence may aid digestion and ward off heartburn. Power-Trition says TrimFizz is made with a plant extract, Super CitriMax, containing 60 percent hydroxycitric acid, which is similar to the citric acid in oranges and has been shown to reduce appetite and inhibit fat production without stimulating the nervous system, changing the heart rate or blood pressure or interfering with sleep. Trimfizz is available online at $59.95 for a 30-day supply.

Jarrow's bloody pomegranate: Jarrow Formulas says its PomGreat Pomegranate + Blood Orange Juice Concentrate is four times more concentrated than regular juice and offers "exceptionally high levels" of phytonutrients with a guaranteed oxygen radical absorbance capacity value of 1,500 per serving. The Los Angeles-based company says studies show pomegranate promotes cardiovascular function, healthy cell replication and antioxidant protection, while blood oranges provide vitamin C, potassium, carotenoids and flavonoids as well as the antioxidants delphinidin-3-glucoside, cyanidin-3-glucoside and cyanidin-3 glucoside. The suggested retail price for a 12-ounce bottle is $19.95.

J&J's Rembrandt formulations: Johnson & Johnson's Rembrandt Oral Health brand launches formulations of its Intense Stain and Canker Sore toothpastes with a blend of micro-polishing particles and fluoride and both are free of sodium lauryl sulfate. The toothpastes include enhanced foaming ingredients for rich and creamy lather while peppermint and spearmint oils deliver a crisp mint flavor with cooling agents for longer lasting breath fresheners. Both products are available nationwide at suggested retail price of $7.99 for 3-ounce tubes, Morris Plains, N.J.-based J&J says July 30.
