NSF updates standards for GMPs

Executive Summary
NSF International adds the good manufacturing practices requirements FDA published for supplement products in June 2007 to its American Standard for Dietary Supplements, the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based organization says May 8. In addition to updating the NSF/American National Standards Institute Standard 173 for supplements to include the GMPs, the new version of the standard also references the Adverse Event Reporting requirements, which went into effect December 2007. The NSF standard is used to analyze and evaluate supplements to ensure they contain no undeclared ingredients or unacceptable levels of contaminants, the group says...
