EC for rape survivors
The Connecticut Senate passes a bill April 25 to require licensed health care facilities to provide sexual assault survivors with emergency contraception upon request. The bill (S.B. 1343) moves to the House for a vote. Separately, the Wisconsin Legislature addresses a similar measure (S.B. 129) in a public hearing April 25. The Wisconsin bill not only provides emergency contraception upon request, but penalizes noncompliant hospitals. Also, Rep. Michael Michaud, D-Maine, et al., introduce a bill (H.R. 2064) April 26 to require the availability of emergency contraceptives to all military health care treatment facilities. The bill is referred to the House Committee on Armed forces. In January, Rep.
