Executive Summary

The Tolerable Upper Intake Level for vitamin D3 should be raised from 50 µg to 250 µg, according to a scientific review published in the January American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. "New clinical research results over the past 10 years indicate that appropriate intakes of vitamin D may provide greater health benefits than previously thought, benefits that include not only improved bone health, but other effects as well," the Council for Responsible Nutrition's John Hathcock, Ph.D., et al., state. The authors reviewed data from 21 clinical trials using doses from 10 µg to 250 µg. Tropicana, Minute Maid juices: Juices containing Ocean Nutrition Canada's MEG-3 omega-3 product have been unveiled by PepsiCo's Tropicana and Coca-Cola's Minute Maidbrands. Tropicana says an 8 oz. glass of Tropicana Healthy Heart with Omega-3s delivers 50 mg of omega-3s. The product carries an SRP of $3.49 for a 64 oz. carton. Meanwhile, Coca-Cola's Minute Maid Fruit Solutions Omega-3 juice was launched Jan. 22 in major grocery stores throughout Canada. Each 250 ml serving contains 50 mg of EPA/DHA from fish oil, according to the firm. The product is available in a mango orange passion juice blend, orange strawberry banana and tropical blend.
