Wal-Mart expands generics program
Wal-Mart is accelerating the roll-out of its discount generics program throughout Florida. The program, which was launched in the firm's Tampa-area outlets Sept. 21, provides 30-day supplies of certain generic products for $4 (1"The Pink Sheet" Oct. 2, 2006, p. 18). The firm had previously planned to launch the program statewide Jan. 1, 2007, but said it decided to advance the expansion due to strong demand. Wal-Mart reports 36,000 new prescriptions were filled in the Tampa stores in the first ten days after launch.
