Aquafresh White Trays: The first tooth-whitening product for the Aquafresh brand offers "disposable, pre-dosed trays for whitening" and will begin shipping this fall, GlaxoSmithKline announces. White Trays features 14 flexible trays per package (seven upper and seven lower) that are "easy to apply and cover more of your teeth," according to labeling. The product also promises "visibly whiter teeth in as little as three days." GSK also is introducing Citrucel Fiber Shake, a powder formulation that can be mixed with either milk or water. Line priced with other Citrucel products, the shake is available in chocolate and began shipping in May. Separately, the name of the Tums Smooth Dissolve line will be changed to Tums Smoothies, and a new Cocoa & Crème flavor will ship this fall....

Listerine Pocket Mists: Pocket-sized spray containers that offer "over 140 mists" and promise to "kill germs for a clean mouth feeling" are available in Cool Mint and Fresh Citrus flavors and will ship in the third quarter, Pfizer announces. Listerine Pocket Mists will be backed by a media spend equivalent to that of Listerine PocketPaks, which launched in 2000 (1 (Also see "Cool Mint Listerine PocketPaks Breath Strips Slated For Summer Launch" - Pink Sheet, 28 Feb, 2000.), p. 3). Separately, the firm is extending its Purell Hand Sanitizer line with two new SKUs available in stores now: Hand Sanitizer Moisture Therapy and Hand Sanitizing Wipes. Pfizer also introduces new SudaCare Shower Soothers that ship in August. The product dissolves on the floor of the shower and "releases soothing eucalyptus, menthol and camphor vapors," labeling notes....

Tom's of Maine: Whole Care toothpaste is the firm's first all-in-one product to provide tartar control (zinc citrate), whitening (natural silica) and anticavity (fluoride) properties and will ship in August, Tom's of Maine announces. A 6 oz. tube of gel is available in spearmint, peppermint, orange-mango and cinnamon clove flavors, while a 5.5 oz. paste is sold in spearmint, wintergreen, peppermint and cinnamon clove. The product is line priced with the firm's other toothpastes at $3.99....

Church & Dwight oral care: Pepsodent Sensitive, which contains potassium nitrate 5% for antihypersensitivity and sodium fluoride 0.24% for anticavity properties, will being shipping in February 2006, C&D announces. The product, available in Smooth Peppermint flavor, will retail for $1.69. Also shipping in February will be Arm & Hammer Enamel Care Advanced Sensitivity Protection, a triple-action dentifrice that incorporates an oxalate formulation to react with calcium in the teeth to reduce sensitivity. The product will retail for $12.99....

Clearasil Scar Care: The Clearasil Ultra line will be extended with a system that is "specially formulated to reduce the appearance of scars leftover from acne and help prevent new ones from forming" and will be marketed by Novartis in the U.S. when it reaches stores in July, Boots Healthcare announces. TheClearasil Ultra Acne Scar Care System offers three products that target the 18-24 age group and will be supported by national print ads scheduled to break in late summer. Exfoliating Acne Wash has a dual exfoliator that "stimulates skin renewal." Protecting Day Lotion with SPF 15 "protects healing skin" and contains octinoxate 7.5% and avobenzone 2.5%, while Night Repair Lotion "improves the appearance of scars." The system provides a 30-45 days worth of treatment and will carry an SRP of $19.99-$24.99....

Monistat Soothing Care: Johnson & Johnson introduces the Soothing Care product line "from the makers of Monistat." The line's four SKUs include Soothing Care Medicated Powder, which contains zinc oxide 10% "for everyday odor control, moisture control, chafing and irritation." Itch Relief Cream contains hydrocortisone 1% and provides "fast relief" for itching, inflammation, burning and irritation. Chafing Relief Powder Gel offers the skin protectant dimethicone 1.2% and relieves and prevents chafing in the inner thigh and bikini area, while Itch Relief Spray is packaged in a special 2.5 oz bottle that sprays while upside down for easy application. J&J plans to extend the line with a product that offers a "holistic approach from the inside," the firm adds....

Zicam extensions: Zicam Maximum Strength Flu and Cold & Flu each available in nighttime and daytime formulas. Unique packaging for the products features a set of six disposable spoons with peel-back seal containing prepared dose, Matrixx Initiatives announces. Maximum Strength Flu relieves treats body aches, fever, headache and cough with acetaminophen, dextromethorphan and doxylamine (for nighttime) or chlorpheniramine maleate (for daytime). Cold & Flu treats early signs of the flu such as sore throat, headache, nasal congestion, runny nose and cough with acetaminophen, dextromethorphan, phenylephrine HCl and doxylamine or chlorpheniramine maleate. The SKUs ship in August and will sell for $8.99 each. Marketing plans include radio, print, Internet ads and an FSI drop in the fourth quarter....

DynaTabs vitamin strips: Eight new DynaTabs supplement strips introduced by DynaTabs LLC. Products include Appetite Arrest with hoodia gordonii, Vita Surge with ginseng, Vitamin C Booster, Green Tea Antioxidant and Antacid Assist with "natural digestive enzymes found in pineapple and papaya." Memory Enhancer with ginkgo biloba, Aloe Vera and Carb Beater with Phaseolamin white kidney bean extract round out the line. Each pack includes 30 tabs and ranges in price from $2.49 to $2.69. The strips "contain 33.33 mg of healthy ingredients - nearly twice the 17 mg found in other 'health strips' on the market today," the company maintains. The product line is shipping now....

TMF hoodia: The HoodiaPlus Diet System Body Shaping Topical Patch contains 500 mg hoodia gordonii and 2 mg fucus vesiculosus, TMF Technologies announces. The patch "works differently from diet stimulants, because it doesn't stimulate at all. Scientists say it fools the brain by making you think you're full, even if you only eat very little!" product packaging maintains. A 30-day supply will retail for $19.99. TMF already markets a line of DynaSlim patches, including the DynaSlim Topical Weight Loss patch and the DynaSlim Topical Carb Blocker, that are sold in Target and sporting goods stores. All of TMF's products are now expanding to drugstores such as Rite Aid and CVS....

Slim-Fast Optima: Slim Fast is extending its Optima line with new Slim-Fast Optima High Protein shakes in Extra Creamy Chocolate and Extra Creamy Vanilla flavors, firm announces. The shakes contain 190 calories, 15 g of protein and 5 g of fiber and "help build lean muscle." The product is shipping now in a 4-pack of 11 oz. cans line priced with other Slim Fast shakes. New TV and print ads in late summer and early fall are planned for the brand. Slim Fast intends to further expand the High Protein line with SKUs that contain lean protein for greater satiety and to help consumers build lean muscle mass. A High Protein line is "a natural progression" for those who were successful losing weight through low-carb diets, Slim Fast states.
