Executive Summary
Joint marketing of Colgate Dental Gum is beginning now in Europe following the European Commission's December approval of venture. The arrangement with Nestle will allow Colgate to achieve wider distribution for the product in confectionery sections of food, drug and mass channels (1"The Tan Sheet" June 23, 2003, p. 8). "We will be monitoring our progress in the UK and Ireland test markets and any expansion beyond the initial markets will be based on in-market results," Colgate says. Nestle has said it believes the partnership can blossom into pursuit "on a worldwide basis, [of] the development, marketing, distribution and sale of a portfolio of portable oral care products."
