Executive Summary

Center completes 84 of 108 "A" list activities in first nine months of 2000, Director Joseph Levitt announces Dec. 5. Successes include reducing FOIA request backlog for supplement AERs; all 1998-1999 requests now have been fulfilled. Also, CFSAN and CDER are drawing up a memorandum of understanding outlining the food center's lead enforcement role for structure/function claims. The agency has received 1,400 structure/function notifications since January, sending out 102 "courtesy" letters. A-list priorities not completed include supplement GMPs, which are imminent, and an overall ephedra strategy
