Executive Summary
Revenues for the fiscal third quarter ending July 31 reached $2.4 mil., an 86% increase over the prior year, the Columbia, Md. firm reports. Sales for the nine-months leapt 51% compared to the same period in 1999. Martek has been granted a European patent for the production, sale and use of arachidonic acid (ARA) in concentrations of at least 30%. The firm already holds a patent in Europe for docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and markets the nutritional oils in infant formulas in over 60 countries. Martek is awaiting an FDA response to a GRAS notification for the use of DHA and ARA in infant formulas in the U.S
