Second quarter sales increased to $8.6 mil. from $2.4 mil. in the year-ago period, although consecutive-period revenues dropped from $9.3 mil., the company says July 13. The Nasdaq-listed firm gained 35,000 new shoppers in the quarter, bringing its total customer base to 189,000. Repeat customers made up half of all business for the quarter, VitaminShoppe notes, and the average shopping basket totaled about $75.
