Former SmithKline Beecham CEO Jan Leschly forms new investment firm in conjunction with former SB Senior VP-Information Resources John Parker and former Rhone Group Managing Director David Ramsay. The fund has co-investment arrangements with Morgan Stanley and Rho Management, and will have an initial capitalization of $100 mil. Care Capital will focus on "the impact of scientific innovation and technological development in the life sciences on the quality of healthcare." During an analysts meeting following the announcement of the Glaxo/SmithKline merger, Leschly indicated a particular interest in investment opportunities surrounding direct-to-patient communication via the Internet (1"The Pink Sheet" Jan. 31, p. 25)
