Yamanouchi Shaklee Pharma and J&J/Merck form an agreement for the development of an OTC product using Yamanouchi's Wowtab technology for quick-dissolving tablets that can be taken without water. J&J/Merck Consumer markets Mylanta and Pepcid AC antacids and stomach acid blockers. No OTCs using the Wowtab system are on the market; the J&J/Merck deal is the first such arrangement to be disclosed. Yamanouchi signed an agreement with Glaxo Wellcome recently for an Rx migraine therapy using the technology.
