Executive Summary
TOTAL DAILY INTAKE COLUMN ADDITION TO "SUPPLEMENT FACTS" BOX SOUGHT by Amway's Nutrilite Division in a Jan. 23 citizen petition to FDA. Dietary supplements intended to be consumed more than once per day should include labeling information on the amounts of dietary ingredients provided by the product "on a `per day' basis in addition to the already-required `per serving basis,'" the Buena Park, Calif.-based supplement manufacturer and marketer suggests. FDA rejected similar suggestions in its Sept. 23 final rules implementing several provisions of the Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act ("The Tan Sheet" Sept. 29, 1997, pp. 1-7).
