Executive Summary

The Environmental Working Group says its newly available sunscreen safety database is the result of 18 months of research revealing that 84% of 783 sunscreen products "offer inadequate protection from the sun or contain ingredients with significant safety concerns." The database is organized to allow consumers to search "best and worst" lists and see the health hazard, sun hazard and combined rankings of top-selling sun-care products.
