Sothys Paris is extending its Hydroptimale THI³ skin care technology into the foundations category with the launch of Hydroptimale THI³ Foundation, a makeup that works with skin on three "dimensions" to hydrate, nourish and protect, the firm said.

"This revolutionary formula harnesses the hydrating power of the Sothys Hydroptimale THI³ range of skin care products and infuses it into a groundbreaking foundation," Sothys said.

Launching in October, Hydroptimale THI³ Foundation is "more than a makeup," Sothys said. The "tinted moisturizing cream" uses active ingredients to encourage natural hydration in the skin on three levels.

Dimension one uses Optimizer SC Complex, which "auto-regulates" skin's hydration system. The complex contains algae, plant extracts and sugar to "sustain the water reservoir in the dermis and optimize the hydrous diffusion in different layers" of skin, Sothys said.

The second dimension contains vegetal osmolytes, molecules encapsulated in algae and botanical polymers that regulate the concentration of water by improving osmotic action between keratinocyte cells and their environment.

The third dimension, a molecular patch, diffuses osmolytes throughout skin for "at least eight hours of intense hydration," the French skin care firm said.

The foundation veils imperfections and blurs uneven pigmentation by creating a soft-focusing effect, Sothys claims. "The result is a glowing, healthy complexion that lasts far beyond the months of summer, and maintains a beautiful luster well into the sallow doldrums of winter."

The foundation will be available in five shades: Coquillage, Peau, Beige Poudré, Caramel and Tomette. The formula is packaged in a sleek, portable squeeze tube, and will retail for $36.

Sothys products are available at fine salons and spas nationwide, and at the L'Institut Sothys in New York City.
