GENDARME LAUNCHING CARRIERE WOMEN'S SCENT IN NORDSTROM in October, the company said. A variation on the company's Gendarme Cologne for Men, Carriere has a "long-term" exclusive distribution deal with Nordstrom's 60-plus doors, Gendarme said. The women's fragrance will be available in three SKUs -- an eau de parfum, a body creme and a bath splash. Carriere is geared towards business women, the company said, noting, however, that the scent was popular with all age groups during a sampling test. Nordstrom promotional activity for the fragrance will focus on the theme, "Carriere for the woman who means business." The Givaudan Roure-supplied scent opens with citrus notes leading to a heart of lavender, bergamot and jasmine, Gendarme said. The drydown comprises lilac and "greens," the company noted. The Gendarme bottle depicts a stylized fleur de lis. The outer carton is white with accents in two shades of blue. Another Gendarme women's scent, Caliste, will debut in January. The company said that it has not yet finalized distribution plans for the "mandarin citrus" fragrance but is looking to do regional exclusives with stores such as Dayton Hudson and Macy's. Gendarme launched its second men's fragrance, Grabazzi, in Barney's New York in 1995 ("The Rose Sheet" May 15, 1995, p. 7). The company currently is rolling Grabazzi out to Nordstrom and Macy's doors. |
