The European Medicines Agency will soon be looking for a new vice chair of its human drug evaluation committee, the CHMP.
The current vice chair is Ian Hudson of the UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Dr Hudson was recently named as the new chief executive of the UK agency1; he takes up that role in September. In the meantime, he is stepping down as vice chair – and also from membership – of the CHMP after its July meetings, the MHRA told Scrip Regulatory Affairs.
Dr Hudson was appointed vice chair of the CHMP for a three-year term in October 20122; he has been a CHMP member since 2004.
The CHMP is chaired by Tomas Salmonson, senior scientific advisor at the Swedish Medical Products Agency. The committee meets monthly. Its next meetings are scheduled for 22-25 July3.
