The UK government has confirmed its plans to dissolve a number of health-related quasi-autonomous non-governmental organisations, or "quangos", such as the Human Tissue Authority, the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority and the Human Genetics Commission1-3. The proposals include merging the activities of the HTA and the HFEA into a "single research regulator".
