Germany's health technology appraisal institute, IQWiG, has elected Professor Jürgen Windeler as its new director. The chief physician and deputy managing director of the MDS (Essen) – the medical advisory board for statutory health insurers and long term care insurance – does not appear to be the soft option for the pharmaceutical industry that some had predicted1.
