UK MHRA suggests measures to strengthen drug supply chain

The UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency is seeking greater authority that will allow it to introduce tougher standards for granting wholesale drug distribution licences in light of an increasing threat from counterfeit medicines1,2. The proposal forms part of a consultation document that suggests amendments to UK legislation (Medicines Act 1968) to strengthen the medicines supply chain. Comments are due by 13 March.
