Sigma-Tau Pharmaceuticals Inc.launches Crosscare Ltd.’s Colief Infant Digestive Aid in the US with new packaging and a website. Gaithersburg, Md.-based Sigma-Tau on Oct. 6 said packaging is designed to better communicate how the product helps aid in relieving colic-associated crying caused by temporary lactose intolerance. Crosscare, of Ireland, developed the product for use by breastfeeding moms and in infant formula. Colief is available at Walgreens and online for a suggested retail price of $19.95.

Davisco launches protein drink, bar

Davisco Foods International Inc. showcases alpha-lactalbumin protein drink prototype and a trail mix protein bar at Supply Side West in Las Vegas, Oct. 5-9. The Eden Prairie, Minn., firm says the drink is rich in tryptophan, the precursor to serotonin and the trail mix bar contains BioZate7, a hydrolyzed whey protein that is lactose-, fat- and gluten-free. Davisco markets dairy ingredients from cheese to whey protein and lactose.

Ester-C Immune goes gummy

Ester-C Immune Charge Gummies provide 100% of the daily value of vitamin C for immune health and are formulated for adults and children ages 4 years and up. Ronkonkoma, NY-based NBTYInc. on Oct. 6 said the product joins the Ester-C line as a vitamin for the whole family. It retails in 45-count bottle for around $4.

Migraine topical, ingredient app partner

ContentChecked Holdings Inc. pairs its MigraineChecked application that scans food bar codes to help detect more than 250,000 packaged foods known to trigger migraines with Troy Healthcare LLC’s Stopain Migraine topical pain relieving gel. The firms said on Oct. 6 they are partnering to market the products targeted to the 37 million consumers who suffer from migraines.

Ganeden’s probiotic feminine care cream

Ganeden Inc. announces PrevaLeaf Probiotic Boost soothing vaginal cream, a water-based cream with vitamin E and aloe that gives a “boost” of concentrated probiotic technology in a soothing cream with natural ingredients. The formula also contains Ganeden’s probiotic Bonicel. Probiotic Boost joins other offerings under the PrevaLeaf personal care products collection for women. The product is available in a 0.27- fluid ounce tube for $29.99.

Probiotic gel from Agel

Agel BIO delivers probiotic strains through a water-based suspension gel, “expected to ensure that the benefits of the supplement are delivered more effectively and spread more evenly in the intestine than is the case with probiotic pills or capsules,” says direct seller Agel Enterprises LLC. “It is designed to maintain a healthy balance of good and bad bacteria within the body, and that in turn promotes proper digestion, absorption of nutrients from food and overall good health and a sense of well-being,” notes microbiologist Kiran Krishnan, who helped develop the product for the Pleasant Grove, Utah, business.

8 nutrients effervesce in tablet

New York health and wellness firm Tasty Greens LLC introduces 8G, “the world's first effervescent tablet,” containing blue green algae, organic aloe vera, barley grass, spinach, kale, spirulina, chlorella and wheatgrass. Tasty Greens on Sept. 30 said 8G tablets are dropped into water and fizz before drinking. 8G retails on the brand website in a 10-tablet bottle for $12.50.

Liquid Infrared generates minerals

Fusion Ionz Bandz LLC branches out from bracelets to promote health and wellnessand introduces the Liquid Infrared dietary supplement line made with non-thermal far infrared-generating minerals to increase nitric oxide and boost circulation and bioavailability of additional nutrients and supplements in the products. The Atlanta firm on Oct. 7 said the line comprises Joint Rx for joint health, Libido Rx for sexual health support and Complete Rx for complete health, plus Kids Rx with flavoring. Far infrared, one of three regions of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum, is classified by the International Organization for Standardization as 50μm to 1,000μm. Liquid Infrared products are available online at between $59.99 and $79.99 each. Fusion Ionz says it will license its technology to other supplement firms.

Sunrocks for hangovers

Sunrocks offers its namesake blend of vitamins and herbs to help prevent hangovers when consumed the night before. The Los Angeles firms sells three-capsule packs online through a monthly subscription service and offers a money-back guarantee for 12 months. The company on Oct. 7 said it is exploring a new version of Sunrocks and is growing the brand's reputation largely through social media. Sunrocks delivers 31-, 12- and four-count packages of three-capsule packs priced between $124 and $20.

Astaxanthin antioxidant ingredient available

Solix Algredients Inc. rolls out Solasta Astaxanthin natural astaxanthin extract produced from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis for use in dietary supplements and personal care products. The Fort Collins, Colo., firm on Oct. 7 said research shows H. pluvialis has “superior antioxidant activity” compared to other well-known antioxidants. It is Solix’s first of a planned portfolio of natural ingredients derived from algae, which the firm will market to supplement and personal care firms as solely a business-to-business supplier.
