With FDA approval in hand, Abbott Medical Optics plans October retail shipments of its RevitaLens Ocutec Multi-purpose Disinfecting Solution for silicone hydrogel and conventional soft contact lenses. Abbott said Sept. 29 the next-generation solution has a high microorganism kill rate, reduces corneal staining and minimizes the risk of eye complications. The company recommends a rub and rinse regimen for RevitaLens Ocutec in line with a recent FDA guidance that advises against "no rub" labeling (1"The Tan Sheet" Sept. 6, 2010)
