Abbott shakes up Ensure line: The Abbott Park, Ill., firm targets health-conscious baby boomers with a pair of Ensure line extensions: Ensure Muscle Health and Ensure Clinical Strength, both of which contain Abbott Labs' Revigor ingredient to help protect muscle cells. Clinical Strength also includes the Immune Balance blend of probiotics to support digestive health and antioxidants for immune support, Abbott says Aug. 25. Muscle Health shakes retail at $7.99 and Clinical Strength shakes are $9.99, both in 4-packs of 8-ounce bottles.

AgroLabs loads immunity, detox shots: Joining AgroLabs' lineup of 3-ounce liquid shot products are Superfruit Immune Booster and 12 Hour Overnight Cleanse & Detox . The Hillside, N.J.-based firm announces Aug. 25 its immunity support product contains acai and Embria Health Sciences' EpiCor ingredient; Superfruit Immune Booster sells in 12-packs at a suggested price of $29.99. Separately, AgroLabs launches the two-shot detox program, comprising the 12 Hour Acai Cleanse to be taken at night and the 12 Hour Green Envy Detox to be consumed in the morning. The Cleanse & Detox shots soon will be sold nationwide at $9.99 for a 2-pack, the company says.

BAZI shot has eight superfruits: BAZI International's eponymous energy shot contains the "Phyto8" blend of superfruits - jujube, blueberry, pomegranate, goji, mangosteen, raspberry, acai and seabuckthorn - to provide antioxidants and vitamins where other shots overload with caffeine and sugar, the firm says Aug. 24. Denver-based BAZI claims its shot has an Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity value of 2,212 per 2-ounce serving compared to 1,500 for a leading antioxidant juice. BAZI's energy shots retail at $2.99 each or at $28.99 for a 12-pack.

Sugar Crush claims diabetic health support: Developed in Israel, NaturEra's Sugar Crush dietary supplements have shown benefits for consumers with diabetes, according to clinical studies. Subjects with type 2 diabetes who used Sugar Crush and Sugar Crush Daily experienced "dramatic results" in the maintenance of healthy blood sugar levels, says diabetic specialist and lead investigator Mishel Weshler in an Aug. 26 release. NaturEra recommends concurrent use of the two Sugar Crush products, which contain a proprietary blend of botanicals. The Wellington, Fla., company launched Sugar Crush in the U.S. at the August meeting of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and sells a 30-day supply for $64.95.

Hyland's has new homeopathics "4 kids": With a formula containing allium cepa, phosphorus and sulphur, Hyland's Nighttime Cold 'n Cough 4 Kids is claimed to alleviate cough and chest congestion to aid restful sleep. In an Aug. 24 release, Los Angeles-based Hyland's introduces another homeopathic line extension - Complete Allergy 4 Kids, which the firm says treats less-common allergy symptoms such as ear fullness and burning eyes. Both products are safe and effective for children aged 2 and older, and sell for $7.99 per 4 fluid ounces, Hyland's says.

Samsyl targets liver health: Nutramax Labs says its Samsyl supplement, launched July 8, helps protect liver tissue through its formulation of S-adenosylmethionine - SAMe - and a silybin-soy phosphatidylcholine complex. The ingredient blend provides the organ with "key components which help normalize hepatic enzymes and antioxidants," says Brian Cornblatt, medical director of Nutramax's consumer unit. The Edgewood, Md., company sells Samsyl online at $39.89 for 45 capsules and $98.89 for 120 capsules.

Michelle's Miracle touts tart cherry for joints: One ounce of Michelle's Miracle Joint Formula Tart Cherry Concentrate contains 400 mg of anthocyanins - more than twice the original formula - along with 202 mg of potassium. The Leland, Mich.-based company says Aug. 25 it blends tart cherry concentrate, honey and Ceylon cinnamon claimed for its anti-inflammatory properties to produce its joint formula. The product sells at $24.95 for a 16-ounce bottle and $105 for a 6-pack.
