Nycomed US names CEO and Senior VP: Steve Andrzejewski assumes the role of CEO of Nycomed US Inc. July 19, with responsibility for the manufacturing, distribution and commercial operations of the company's Fougera, PharmaDerm and Savage Laboratories businesses. Andrzejewski most recently served as chief commercial operator at King Pharmaceuticals, where he also was corporate head of commercial operations. Andrzejewski's "experience with both generics and proprietary products will be great assets to guide Nycomed US through the challenging and changing business environment," said Nycomed CEO Hakan Bjorklund. The company announces Aug. 5 Jeff Wasserstein is now senior VP of business development and strategy, reporting to Andrzejewski. Wasserstein has a background in dermatology products and 20 years of pharma experience with companies including Schering-Plough and Dr. Reddy's. Nycomed US distributes one consumer product, Swim-EAR ear drops, through Fougera.

VivaPrime teams with naturopath: Holly Lucille, former president of the California Naturopathic Doctor's Association, becomes U.S. spokesperson for supplement firm VivaPrime. Lucille, known as "Dr. Holly," is a natural products consultant, author and educator, in addition to running a private practice in Los Angeles. VivaPrime's "core concepts as a global lifestyle supplement company are perfectly aligned with mine as a comprehensive and passionate naturopathic physician," Lucille said in an Aug. 11 release. Boulder, Co.-based VivaPrime launched a line of 11 condition-specific supplements in April (1 (Also see "New Products In Brief" - Pink Sheet, 7 Jun, 2010.)).

Consultant Clardy takes on sales role: San Jose, Calif.-based Draco Natural Products hires Lauren Clardy to be senior director of sales and marketing. Clardy, the founder and president of Santa Rosa, Calif.-based consultancy Nutrimarketing, will help Draco as it expands its portfolio of specialty ingredients and botanical extracts, the company said Aug. 25. According to Nutrimarketing's website, Clardy has more than 25 years of experience in dietary supplement sales, marketing and business development. She began her career in distribution at United Naturals and has worked at Hain Celestial Foods, Sun Chlorella and Kraft General Foods.

Cyvex brings aboard tech manager: Ginger Jinjarak joins Cyvex Nutrition as the ingredient firm's technical services manager, Cyvex says Aug. 25. Jinjarak comes to Irvine, Calif.-based Cyvex from cheese manufacturer Cacique Inc., where she worked in quality control and assurance. At Cyvex, she will lead continuing efforts to follow strict standard operating procedures, assist in research and development and perform ingredient testing.

Jiang joins Vita-Tech: David Yihai Jiang, a veteran of supplement firms Alacer Corp. and Nexgen Pharma, will be responsible for nutraceutical formulation and development for Vita-Tech International Inc., where he becomes director of technical services. The Tustin, Calif., contract manufacturer said July 21 Jiang has a doctorate in nutrition, a master's degree in food engineering and a bachelor's degree in industrial pharmacy from Texas A&M.

Dash funds SDSU probiotics programs: UAS Laboratories President S.K. Dash establishes an endowment at South Dakota State University, his alma mater, to fund research, scholarships and programs in the College of Nutrition and Food Science. The Minneapolis probiotics firm said July 26 programs under consideration at SDSU, where Dash is an adjunct professor, include a certificate or masters program in regulatory affairs with a focus on nutraceuticals and research programs in probiotic applications and clinical effects.

Fruit of the Spirit elevates Naylor: The maker of beverages with antioxidants and alkalizing minerals promotes Deanna Naylor to president and chief marketing officer from her previous role as VP of marketing. Plano, Texas-based Fruit of the Spirit, which announced the move Aug. 24, says its mission is "to lead more Christians to better health."
