Executive Summary
A subcommittee of the FDA advisory panel will review the science priorities, management oversight and infrastructure quality of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, with the goal of issuing a final report in February 2010. Members of the FDA Science Board who volunteered for the subcommittee during an Aug. 17 meeting in Rockville, Md., were Rhona Applebaum, VP and chief scientific and regulatory officer for the Coca-Cola Co.; John Floros, professor of food science at Penn State University; and Larry Sasich, assistant professor of pharmacy practice at the Lake Erie College of Medicine. FDA is on a five-year cycle for reviewing intramural research in each of its centers, with the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research slated for review in 2010
