Matrixx Initiatives, the maker of Zicam cold and flu relief products, launches a mobile telephone application through the T-Mobile network to allow consumers to check on cold and flu activity by zip code. The Zicam Cold and Flu Companion mobile application was launched Dec. 2 for the T-Mobile G1 phone and will be extended in mid-December to Apple's iPhone, which is available in the U.S. for AT&T wireless service customers, Matrixx says. The application provides more detail than Google's recently launched Flu Trends online service, which shows the number of flu cases in regions around the U.S., Matrixx says. The application also provides access to cold and flu news, coupons for Zicam products and directions to retailers that stock the products
