Abbott nutritionals up in Q2

Executive Summary

Worldwide sales of Abbott's nutritional products in its second quarter grew 21.3 percent to $627 billion, the firm says July 16. Abbott's nutritional product sales growth includes 7.7 percent favorable impact from exchange and continued growth in emerging markets such as Asia and Latin America, the firm says. U.S. nutritional sales are up mid-single digits to $608 million, driven by sales of PediaSure,ZonePerfect and Glucerna. Looking ahead, Abbott says it expects double-digit sales growth in worldwide nutritionals and continued growth in mid-single digit sales in the U.S. during its fiscal 2008 third and fourth quarters of 2008...
