Naturex acquires Berkem unit

The French manufacturer of natural ingredients for food, dietary supplements and nutraceuticals on Jan. 8 announces its acquisition of Actifs Innovants, a division of Berkem, for 9.5 million euros ($13.96 million according to Jan. 11 exchange rates). Actifs' products include "clinically tested and trademarked plant extracts for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, cosmetic and food industries," and products developed by Gardonne, France-based Berkem in the past 10 years, including the Svetol weight-loss products, Naturex says.
