Executive Summary

The Department of Agriculture releases measures of antioxidant capacities for 277 selected foods on Nov. 6. The new database provides "easy access to antioxidant values for a wide variety of foods, many of which may be excellent sources of healthful compounds," USDA says. In September, industry group executives said the database being developed by the Department of Agriculture to track consumers' dietary supplement intake could "help firms with information they need for product development," (1"The Tan Sheet" Sept. 3, 2007, p. 17).
