Verstandig leaves NACDS: Lee Verstandig resigns as senior vice president of government affairs at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, effective June 30, to pursue "the next stage of his professional career," the trade group announces June 8. Verstandig is credited with building NACDS' area of government affairs and, most notably, with increasing industry appreciation on Capitol Hill, NACDS says. Until Verstandig's successor is appointed, Paul T. Kelly, current vice president of federal government affairs, will lead the government affairs team on an acting basis....

Sadove to join Colgate board: Colgate-Palmolive names Stephen I. Sadove, chairman and CEO of Saks Inc., to join its board of directors, the firm announces June 7. Sadove joined Saks as vice chairman in 2002 and was named chief operating officer in 2004 and CEO in 2006, according to Colgate. Prior to joining Saks, he had served since 1996 as president of Bristol-Myers Squibb's worldwide beauty-care business. Colgate expects Sadove to bring "extensive business leadership experience and a strong marketing and consumer products background to the Colgate Board"....

New CHPA science director: The Consumer Healthcare Products Association announces June 5 it promoted Marcia D. Howard, Ph.D., from associate director to director of regulatory and scientific affairs. Howard joined the association in August 2004 and handles CHPA's regulatory and scientific issues related to dietary supplements among other responsibilities, such as dealing with OTC ingredient matter, the group says....
