Executive Summary

The Council for Responsible Nutrition announces April 30 four trade magazines will run ads promoting its National Advertising Division initiative. The trade group announced in September a $500,000 grant to increase the number of dietary supplement cases reviewed by the Council of Better Business Bureaus division (1"The Tan Sheet" Sept. 25, 2006, p. 7). The ad urges supplement companies to file a competitive challenge with NAD if they see a supplement ad that is false or misleading, and features a silhouetted businessman in a cowboy hat accompanied by text stating: "There's A New Sheriff In Town: You." Functional Foods & Nutraceuticals, Natural Products Insider, Nutraceuticals World and Nutritional Outlook will run the ads from June until September...
