Executive Summary

The revised (August 2006) NSF International Standard/American National Standard for Dietary Supplements includes Neogen's rapid Soleris microbial test protocols. The test was included in the set of standards after results of an NSF study show equivalencies between Soleris and traditional USP plate-counting methods to test dietary supplements for bacterial contamination. Lansing, Mich.-based Neogen says some 200 food and nutraceutical manufacturers use the Soleris technology, which is a rapid optical method for detecting microbial contamination based on an innovative application of classic microbiology, to detect indicator microbes faster than traditional methods...
