Executive Summary
FDA should issue a final regulation to require the declaration of carmine/cochineal extract on products containing it, the Center for Science in the Public Interest says in CFSAN comments Aug. 28. CSPI says in its comments to the Center for Food Safety & Applied Nutrition the regulation would indicate carmine/cochineal extracts are derived from an insect. CSPI says carmine/cochineal extract may cause severe allergic reactions in humans...
