Council for Responsible Nutrition urges Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to veto a bill that would create a banned supplements list in California. The bill (SB 37), introduced by Sen. Jackie Speier (D) in December, unfairly singles out dietary supplements by making three supplements illegal for use by student athletes while not mentioning steroids and other potentially harmful performance-enhancing substances, the trade group asserts in its Sept. 16 letter to the governor. CRN has been lobbying strongly against the "hollow" bill since its introduction, the association states (1"The Tan Sheet" Aug. 29, 2005, p. 12). The California legislature enrolled the bill Sept. 9 and Gov. Schwarzenegger has 30 days from the day of enrollment to decide whether or not to make the bill a law...
