Health insurance lobby launches a month-long ad campaign supporting medical liability reform, America's Health Insurance Plans announced April 4. A 30-second TV spot shows a feeding frenzy of sharks. "America's trial lawyers are on the prowl," an announcer says. "Their lawsuit feeding frenzy costs every American household up to $1,200 a year in higher medical bills...It's time for Congress to stop lawsuit abuse." Print ads appearing in the Washington, D.C. public transport system feature shark jaws and offer statistics about the cost of the medical liability system. The ads may be expanded to larger congressional districts later this year, AHIP says...
