Executive Summary

The Cosmetic, Toiletry & Fragrance Association "strongly supports" FDA's postponement of the implementation date of the drug facts labeling rule as it applies to sunscreens, the group says in Dec. 2 comments. The agency extended the deadline after realizing that a potential change to the sunscreen final monograph shortly after the drug facts deadline would cause firms to make label changes twice during a short window of time. CTFA also requests that industry be given "sufficient time" to comply with amended final monograph requirements, since redesigning product labels will be a "lengthy undertaking." FDA announced the extension of the original May 16, 2005 deadline in September (1"The Tan Sheet" Sept. 6, 2004, p. 6)...
